The Lake George Battlefield Park Alliance will be conducting guided tours on Saturdays May through October of the Parks unique history as a key site in the French and Indian War and the American Revolution.
The Alliance, formed in 2001 to help preserve the site and educate the public on its importance to American history, is providing trained tour guides who will point out the ruins of Fort George (constructed in 1759), the burial place of four unknown soldiers who were killed in the Battle of Lake George (1755), the Parks historic statues and what they commemorate, and the remnants of hospitals and kilns that served soldiers during the two 18th century conflicts, among other noteworthy areas within the Battlefield Park.
The Festival Commons at Charles R. Wood Park, located at the southern end of historic Lake George, is an ideal location for your next event. With panoramic views of “The Queen of American Lakes,” event-goers can also take advantage of all that Lake George has to offer in terms of activities and sight-seeing, all within a very short walk from the grounds. The beauty and proximity of The Festival Commons at Charles R. Wood Park in Lake George offers something unique for each season and every occasion.
This facility is available to rent for your event and includes the following amenities: Three picnic pavilions, handicapped accessible public restrooms.horse coral, RV electric and water (no septic) and outdoor lighting.
The Cool Insuring Arena, a 4794 seat multi-purpose facility, is the home of the Adirondack Thunder, a professional hockey team that plays in the ECHL.
