Join us for a special gathering as we unveil an honorary plaque at Wiawaka for Diane Struble, a single mother of three little girls, who became the first person to swim the 32-mile-length of Lake George on August 23,1958 in 35 ½ hours. Her “Impossible Swim” brought international fame to the area and continues to inspire women to follow their dreams. Diane Struble was inducted into the International Marathon Swimmers Hall of Fame (IMSHOF) on May 6, 2023.
What made Diane Struble's swim such a memorable event for so many? What strong women have inspired you? Do you love open water swimming in Lake George? You are invited to come share your own stories and memories as we honor Struble's legacy and that of strong women everywhere through story, poetry and song.
