Registration for the Lake George Land Conservancys 13th annual Hike-A-Thon opened Monday, March 3. The event, which will be held on Saturday, July 5th, is designed to showcase the Conservancys parks and preserves with a series of more than 25 guided hikes around Lake George.
Registration is free. Donations are welcome. Participants may choose from a wide selection of hikes ranging from easy, child-friendly walks to challenging climbs. Also included in this years Hike-A-Thon are three on-water options stand-up paddleboard in Huddle Bay, a Northwest Bay kayak group and a Wooden Boat Cruise-A-Thon in the Southern Basin. A drive up Veterans Memorial Parkway to the top of Prospect Mountain is included as a fully accessible choice.
Additionally, a virtual option is available. With the virtual option, participants may select their own path and post photos to the Lake George Land Conservancys social media pages.
All who sign up by April 1 will receive a free Hike-A-Thon 2025 t-shirt. The Conservancy urges participants to register early as many sites fill up quickly.
Photographer Carl Heilman, II will be taking aerial photographs of all groups from a helicopter piloted by Bruce Mowery. Photos will be available for purchase. New this year, you may donate to the LGLC and ask friends and family to donate on your behalf. The top fundraiser will get a seat in the helicopter for a birds-eye view of Lake George and the hiking sites.
The Festival Commons at Charles R. Wood Park, located at the southern end of historic Lake George, is an ideal location for your next event. With panoramic views of “The Queen of American Lakes,” event-goers can also take advantage of all that Lake George has to offer in terms of activities and sight-seeing, all within a very short walk from the grounds. The beauty and proximity of The Festival Commons at Charles R. Wood Park in Lake George offers something unique for each season and every occasion.
This facility is available to rent for your event and includes the following amenities: Three picnic pavilions, handicapped accessible public restrooms.horse coral, RV electric and water (no septic) and outdoor lighting.
The Cool Insuring Arena, a 4794 seat multi-purpose facility, is the home of the Adirondack Thunder, a professional hockey team that plays in the ECHL.
