Floyd Bennett Memorial Airport: Fire Fighters, EMT and Law Enforcement are invited to attend a seminar to discuss safely responding to an aircraft accident. Aircraft accidents can affect any community even when not in the vicinity of an airport.
Aircraft accidents have unique challenges when considering protection of first responders and aircraft occupants, documentation and preservation of the site for NTSB or FAA investigators and hazardous materials.
Participants will have the opportunity to see a variety of aircraft up close and discuss such items as the location of fuel tanks, batteries, ballistic parachutes and various egress methods. Airport Fire Fighting personnel will be on hand with the ARF vehicle to answer any questions about on-airport fire-fighting capabilities. We will also look at the local airport runway configurations, entrances and hazard such as aviation fuel storage.
