PRESS RELEASE:

On Thursday June 5, 2025 @ 7:00pm, classical pianist Jonathan Newell performs at the Strand Theatre!

Pianist/composer Jonathan Newell will be joined by Tania Halko-Susi, violin, Ari Rudiakov, viola, and Brian Melick, percussion to premiere a new work for piano, violin, viola and hand percussion.

Jonathan Newell is a classical pianist, composer, rock guitarist, bassist, singer and Impresario.  Since 1988 he has divided his time between teaching, performing, composing and hosting concerts.  He performs over 100 times a year throughout the Northeastern United States in concert halls, colleges, clubs, coffee houses, corporate events, festivals and private gatherings. 

In 2010 he began The Hudson River Music Hall and in 2011 cofounded Hudson River Music Hall Productions Inc., a 501c3 not-for-profit dedicated to presenting the performing arts in Northeastern New York in order to foster community, creativity and economic development.  He is Executive/Artistic Director of the historic Strand Theatre in Hudson Falls, NY. 

Violist and conductor Ariel Rudiakov is co-founder and Artistic Director of Taconic Music and is on the faculty of Bennington College as viola instructor. He is Music Director and Conductor of the Danbury Symphony Orchestra and Yonkers Philharmonic, and Assistant Conductor of the Greenwich Symphony Orchestra (CT).

Tania Halko Susi Following Tania’s completion of her degrees of BM and MM at the Juilliard School, she has worked in various genres on both violin and viola. Tania’s performing credentials include chamber music performances at Barge Music in Brooklyn, The Apollo Theatre in Harlem, Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center, MOMA’s Summer Garden series with the New Juilliard Ensemble and New York University’s Microtonal Festival. 

Brian Melick started his professional career in music at the age of 13, have developed a wide range of experience as a drummer, multi hand percussionist, and as an educator. Featured artist on over 450 commercially recorded works and have been produced by major as well as independent record companies.

“This project is made possible with funds from the Statewide Community Regrant Program, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature and administered by the Lower Adirondack Regional Arts Council.”
