The Warren County Historical Society will hold its annual Open House and Book Launch on Saturday, November 1 from 11am to 2pm at its 50 Gurney Lane, Queensbury headquarters. Featured will be five local authors whose books were published by the WCHS this past year: Roscoe Hastings (My Civil War Family Heroes), Tom Lynch and Teri Rogers (Ward G. Shippey: Adirondack Architect), Beatriz Roman (The Shoulder Rider), and Frieda Toth (Route 9, James Bond, and Me). The Shoulder Rider was published with funding provided by the Touba Family Foundation. The authors will sign copies of their books for purchasers.
The Societys exhibits, displays, and Resource Center will be available for viewing, and the Book and Gift Shop will be open for shopping. WCHS Officers and Trustees will be on hand to greet visitors. Refreshments will be provided. The event is free and open to the public.
The Warren County Historical Society is dedicated to preserving, interpreting, and promoting the rich history of Warren County. It strives to engage the public through education, research, and community outreach, fostering an appreciation for our cultural heritage and encouraging dialogue about our past. Through the collection, conservation, and exhibition of historical artifacts and documents, it aims to inspire future generations to connect with and learn from the stories that shape our community. The WCHS offers a museum and exhibits, collections and archives, historical and genealogical research, educational programs, a student internship program, local history publishing, and a book and gift shop. It is open Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 9am to 3pm, and Saturdays by appointment.
