Lake George Battlefield Park is the site of monuments marking the remains of soldiers who died at Lake George during the French & Indian War and the American Revolution. This tour will bring to the burial sites in the park of four unknown soldiers who perished during the Battle of Lake George (1755) and 44 individuals who died of smallpox at the Continental Army hospital (after having been infected during the patriots' failed invasion of Canada in 1775-76. Tour leaders will tell the specific circumstances of their deaths, where and when their remains were discovered, and how homage was paid to them through ceremonial reinterments in the 20th and 21st centuries. Displays in the Battlefield Park Visitor Center will also help tell the stories of these heroes whose sacrifices eventually led to the creation of the United States.
