According to USAE News, "in addition to generating business, meetings drive education, knowledge and communal understanding on critical topics, advancing progress in critical areas facing the U.S., the economy and societal wellbeing".
In addition to the above benefits, in-person meetings provide a platform for networking, new business opportunities, workforce engagement, training and professional development.
A new study by Tourism Economics (a division of Oxford Economics) for the Events Industry Council and Meetings Mean Business shows that bringing people together for meetings is a large contrbutor to the U.S. Economy.
How big of an impact? According the the U.S. Travel Association, In the United States alone in 2016, 1.9 million meetings generated $845 billion in economic impact. More than 251 million people came together to network, do business, and gather for educational purposes.
The Economic and Employment Impact (EEI) is an estimation according to the Destinations International Event Impact Calculator. This includes spending on accommodations, food and beverage, retail, recreation, transportation, and more are factored into this equation.
According the LGRCVB, the EEI for 2022 from group business (including: meetings, conventions, sports events, and other large group gatherings) in Warren County alone estimated $38M.
