On March 30, the industry will come together to celebrate Global Meetings Industry Day (GMID)—an international day of advocacy showcasing the undeniable value that business meetings, trade shows, conferences and conventions bring to people, businesses and communities.

Why Meetings Matter?

According to USAE News, "in addition to generating business, meetings drive education, knowledge and communal understanding on critical topics, advancing progress in critical areas facing the U.S., the economy and societal wellbeing".

In addition to the above benefits, in-person meetings provide a platform for networking, new business opportunities, workforce engagement, training and professional development.

Economic Impact

A new study by Tourism Economics (a division of Oxford Economics) for the Events Industry Council and Meetings Mean Business shows that bringing people together for meetings is a large contrbutor to the U.S. Economy.

How big of an impact? According the the U.S. Travel Association, In the United States alone in 2016, 1.9 million meetings generated $845 billion in economic impact. More than 251 million people came together to network, do business, and gather for educational purposes.

The Economic and Employment Impact (EEI) is an estimation according to the Destinations International Event Impact Calculator. This includes spending on accommodations, food and beverage, retail, recreation, transportation, and more are factored into this equation.

According the LGRCVB, the EEI for 2022 from group business (including: meetings, conventions, sports events, and other large group gatherings) in Warren County alone estimated $38M.

You can find the EEI of each booking serviced by the LGRCVB by finding the most updated Convention Calendar on meetlakegeorge.com's Partners Page.

WHY MEET IN THE LAKE GEORGE AREA?

Networking Event at the Sagamore Resort

Lake George is the perfect corporate, association, educational meeting spot for several reasons.

Firstly, the natural beauty of the area provides an excellent backdrop for team-building activities and outdoor recreation, making it an ideal place to escape the stress and distractions of the office. The lake itself offers opportunities for swimming, boating, fishing, and other water activities, while the surrounding Adirondack Mountains provide a stunning setting for hiking, skiing, and other outdoor adventures.

Secondly, the area offers a wide variety of accommodations, from luxury hotels to mountain retreats, making it easy to find the right type of lodging to suit your group's needs and budget. Many of these accommodations also offer conference facilities and meeting spaces.

Thirdly, Lake George is located within easy driving distance of several major cities in the Northeastern United States, including New York City, Boston, and Montreal, making it a convenient destination for companies with employees or clients located in these areas. The region is also easily accessible by air and train, with several airports and train stations located nearby.

Overall, the combination of natural beauty, diverse accommodations, and convenient location make the Lake George Area an excellent choice for a place to meet.
